Canary is more than just a coffee shop. Yet, when I tried to find a nearby restaurant that is exactly what Google described it to be. I had some time to kill and thought if that is all that is around, so be it. That is why I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a serene oasis and more.
If you did not know, I have been popping in out of Houston a lot lately. A lot of the people featured in my podcast are in Houston. I have close friends in Houston and I have to admit I love the food. This place has a great patio which is one of the features of most Houston restaurants.
The Service
What really stood out to me about Canary is their service. They were dog friendly, and extremely helpful. The kitchen and most of their operations are out in the open and from what I see they are very clean. Canary has very clean Restrooms but there are only two. On a busy day be prepared to wait.
More importantly is the food. I went in thinking I would only get a cup of tea and ended up with a great breakfast. Since they have bottles of wine, it would be really easy to add mimosas to that breakfast order. I added a glass of wine for some reason because luckily I wasn’t driving.
Unfortunately, when I am in Houston, I don’t get to that side of town often. Therefore, I don’t know when I will have the opportunity to go back.
